The primary objective is to strengthen phonemic awareness. Children name each picture, listen for the target sound, and determine whether it is heard at the head (beginning), middle, or tail (end) of the word.
The cards feature familiar vocabulary, including common words from Hebrew and Jewish life and borrowed words used in both Hebrew and English. As a secondary skill, the activity builds Alef-Bet knowledge by helping children connect sounds with the letters that represent them and notice where letters appear within words.
