The Nikudot Curriculum
by Hebrew Scouts

The NikudQuest curriculum turns learning into an exciting adventure, with a cast of characters that take the children on quests and missions to explore the wonderful world of Hebrew reading. Students explore “Kriah Kingdom” along with the characters, learning how to read and understand the Hebrew language with enjoyable and meaningful applications. The curriculum uses beautifully illustrated guidebooks, readers, games, and supplemental materials which all work hand-in-hand for a comprehensive learning experience, all in a fun, engaging way.

There is no race or rush when it comes to learning, and children should be moving at a rate that works for them. It is more important to focus on making sure children are enjoying the learning and passing the checkpoints. But naturally, the more practice they get, the quicker they will master each step.

The NikudQuest Curriculum is designed to take about 1.5-2 years.

The curriculum is designed so children can progress at their own pace. The curriculum incorporates benchmarks to ensure children are mastering skills and laying a solid foundation before progressing. Some children may need some more time at each level. It is typical for the first two units to take about 6-8 weeks and the remaining units to take about 4-6 weeks.

Ideally, children should be practicing 20 minutes, once or twice a day but of course we need to build stamina and interest. Our curriculums have a variety of games, stories and activities to hold interest and make learning exciting and engaging.

The Hebrew Scouts curriculum is designed in a “I do, we do, you do” manner. That means it includes group learning, guided practice, and individual work, meaning it can work for both group and individual learning.

Yes! Our decodable books and game packs are perfect for classroom center activities or classroom shelf works.

Our curriculums include Practice Packs which are fun and easy practice activities that parallel what children learn in school and give them extra opportunities to reinforce it at home.

Our decodable books are great to gain extra reading practice and gradually build up reading mastery. Some children might need word experiences in order to read more fluently, so our practice packs are a great option for that as well!

Our curriculums have built-in checkpoints that assess children’s knowledge, skill level, and progress throughout the curriculum. Additionally, every activity is essentially an assessment, with each one honing in on different skills to give them a fully well-rounded learning experience.

Alongside the curriculum we have readiness assessments that can be used as pretest or posttests and we also have some other tools upon inquiry.

Yes.

All of our Hebrew literature is written with authentic spelling and grammar and it can be read in any accent.

When we transliterate key words such as letter names, we transliterate in both accents. For less essential words, such as words that can be read in Hebrew, we transliterate in the Sephardi accent.
