Kubutz – Unit 8Â Student Guidebook:
Our super clear, easy-to-use guidebook provides explicit instruction, outlining step-by-step directions for both teachers and students, (that means NO PREP NEEDED). With guided and independent practice, children will gain autonomy in their learning and stay focused. Built-in checkpoints, assessments, and extra practice ensure that children are reaching goals and making progress. Perfect for classroom teachers, parents, or tutors, this all-in-one guidebook ensures that you can give over the best reading instruction, no stress required.
The Kubutz Guidebook builds off of the knowledge students have learned in previous lessons (Kamatz- Chirik). It focuses on:
- The vowel Kubutz, phonemic awareness, discriminating between Kubutz and other vowels
- Recognizing and understanding the usage of the Kubutz/Shuruk/Melupim.
- Building on the Sh’va rules from previous lessons with less supports
- Introducing new vocabulary and practice in context with exciting stories
- Emphasis on reading specific short texts from the Siddur, the Chumash and Halacha

Kubutz Game Packs
We know that children need movement, repetition, and action to stay focused. There’s only a limited amount of engagement that could be had on a sheet of paper, so we implement exciting and invigorating games into our curriculum that help children practice in an engaging way. Visual activities like puzzle cards, dominoes, matching games, and coloring exercises give children lots of exposure to words in different formats. By using and learning words through games with repetitions and variation, children will remember words in a meaningful and fun way that is truly effective.
The kubutz game pack builds off of students’ knowledge from previous lessons and concentrates on exposing students to kubutz and shuruk syllables and words. This game pack works on building nouns, verbs, and adjectives, with a lot of focus on learning Hebrew vocabulary such as feminine colors, Israel culture and land, and Tefilah and Jewish holiday words.Â
Included are 10 sets of cards for playing games, building language, and engaging practice.
